Parents in Midland arrested after daughter found walking alone to school in the dark

In a troubling incident in Midland, Texas, a young girl was found walking alone along Rankin Highway in the early morning hours, leading to the arrest of her parents.

The Midland Police Department received a call around 6:26 a.m. reporting a child walking along the service road. Officers found the girl, who was cold and frightened, and learned she was attempting to walk to Pease Magnet Elementary School after her father refused to drive her.

The girl, who had been walking for approximately 45 minutes, told police it was her first time walking to school and that she had nearly been hit by a car while crossing the street.

Authorities determined that the girl was in imminent danger, as she was still over an hour away from her destination.
