Attorney General Ken Paxton accuses State Representative Jeff Leach of making unethical contact with a judge in the Robert Roberson case.

Leach texted the judge to urge reconsideration of Roberson's case, which the court viewed as a violation of professional conduct rules.

Leach admitted his mistake publicly, saying he believed the system had failed Roberson.

Roberson, who was convicted for the 2002 shaken baby syndrome death of his daughter, didn't testify before the House due to concerns about his autism and remote testimony. Roberson remains in his cell at the Polunsky Unit in Livingston awaiting further developments.

His execution, which had been scheduled for last Thursday, was stopped after the committee issued a subpoena for his testimony.
