Customs agents say they intercepted a shipment of methamphetamine on Monday worth almost $15 million at the port of entry in Pharr.

More than 1,600 pounds of meth was hidden in a semi-truck hauling fresh bell peppers and cucumbers. When it tried to cross the international bridge at Pharr in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, customs agents discovered the 300 packages of drugs after the vehicle was chosen for secondary inspection.

They confiscated the truck carrying what they say was $14.6 million worth of drugs, and turned legal matters over to Homeland Security for prosecution.
