
Several public officials have been arrested southwest of San Antonio in an alleged vote harvesting scheme.
Among those indicted include a former mayor of Dilley, Texas, a sitting Frio County Commissioner, and the Chief of Staff to a Texas State Representative.
There were a total of nine people indicted.
The Texas Attorney General's office says several suspects have self-surrendered and have been processed.
"Let me be crystal clear: the integrity of our elections is the bedrock of our democratic process," Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement. "Any elected official trying to cheat the system will have to answer for it."
This involves an ongoing investigation into an alleged vote harvesting scheme in Frio County
Frio County is approximately 60 miles southwest of San Antonio.
