Most of Texas is under drought conditions, the only question is how bad is it?

The USDA Drought Monitor for this week was released Thursday showing about 180 of Texas' 254 counties are under some level of drought.

Of the 30% of the state not in a drought, most of those counties are in the Panhandle, the South Plains and northeast Texas.

The hardest hit part of the state is right in the center. A pork chop shaped segment of 16 counties that is rated in "Extreme Drought" to "Exceptional Drought" from Hamilton County to the north to Bexar County in the south and then northwest to Kimble County.
