A school voucher bill that quickly passed the Senate could reach the Texas House as soon as this week.
Clay Robison, with the Texas State Teachers Association, warned that the measure could significantly strain the state budget. The Senate-approved version would provide parents with approximately $10,000 per student to transfer their children from public to private schools.
It remains unclear how the House version of the bill will differ, but House Speaker Dustin Burrows has expressed confidence that it will pass.
