One of the federal agencies that has been helping Texans deal with severe weather this year, has sent people more than $500 million so far.

The U.S. Small Business Administration provides low-interest loans to businesses and individuals after severe weather. Homeowners can use the loans to pay for repairs and businesses can use the funds to repair buildings or replace equipment.

Texas had a string of severe weather incidents this spring and summer - including a tornado in north Texas in late May and Hurricane Beryl in July.

The U.S. Small Business Administration says it has made $140 million in loans to businesses and $364 million in loans to residents.
