Texas has carried out its fifth execution of the year.
61-year-old Garcia Glenn White went to a Houston home in 1989 to smoke crack with Bonita Edwards. He stabbed her to death and then killed her twin, 16-year-old daughters. The bodies were found left in their homes.
The crime went unsolved until White confessed six years after the triple murder. At that time he confessed to two other killings. Witnesses to the execution included people connected to the other two victims. All incidents happened between 1989 and 1995.
White was on death row for three decades until he was given a lethal injection at Huntsville's Texas State Penitentiary on Tuesday. He died around 7 that night. Texas announced that they plan to execute one more inmate on Oct. 17th.
Amanda Hernandez with the Texas Prison system says White used his final statement to apologize to the victim's family.
"And [he] thanked his family and friends for their love and support," White said. "He sang a song and apologized again before thanking the administration and Guards."
According to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, the song White sang was, "I Trust in God."
