Texas has an extremely fast growing population. But, those people are bringing a lot of debt with them.

In fact, Texas now has the three top cities in the country, where people have the most red ink in their budgets. This comes from a new study from Lending Tree. It says Austin, San Antonio, and Houston are first, second, and third in the highest personal debts in America.

The average debt in Austin is just under $46,000. That does not include mortgages. San Antonio and Houston are next at more than $44,000.

Dallas is sixth overall, behind Miami and Atlanta.

Most of the red ink comes from car payments. San Antonio and Austin have the highest average car loan debts. Dallas is close behind.
