A Texas college student has now been identified as the shooting victim who died in New York City on the Juneteenth national holiday.
Houston Baptist University student Darius Lee was home visiting friends and family in Harlem where gunfire erupted Monday morning. Lee died and eight other people were wounded.
The New York Daily News reported that the victims were shot during a cookout organized by Harlem rapper Rich Rhymer, who posted invitations on his Instagram account.
Statements from HBU Head Men's Basketball Coach Ron Cottrell says "we are devastated. Darius was a remarkable young man who loved the Lord, his mom, his family, his teammates, his friends and his entire HBU family."
