Impeachment Announced by Rep. Al Green: Injustice Anywhere is a Threat to Justice Everywhere
A Texas Congressman says he will file articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump. Al Green is a Democrat and represents the state's 9th Congressional District, covering areas of southern Houston.
"Ethnic cleansing in Gaza is not a joke, especially when it emanates from the president of the United States, the most powerful person in the world," Green said on the House floor.
Green has filed articles of impeachment against Donald Trump three other times.
"Nobody knows more about it than I, and I know it is time to lay the foundation again," he said.
Green says he was "denouncing" the president and the prime minister of Israel.
"Dr. King was right: injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere," he said. "Injustice in Gaza is a threat to justice in the United States of America."
International law forbids the forcible transfer of populations. Members of the Trump Administration have said any relocation of Palestinians would be temporary.
Thursday morning, the president posted on Truth Social that Israel would turn the Gaza Strip to the United States after the fighting ends.
"The Palestinians, people like Chuck Schumer, would have already been resettled in far safer and more beautiful communities, with new and modern homes, in the region. They would actually have a chance to be happy, safe, and free," Trump wrote.
Trump wrote the U.S. would work with development teams from around the world to "slowly and carefully begin the construction of what would become one of the greatest and most spectacular developments of its kind on Earth."
