
Texas Democrats joined their Indiana counterparts in Chicago on Tuesday to oppose Republican-led redistricting efforts in their states.
Texas House Democrats left Austin last week to block a vote on a new congressional map they say is designed to flip five seats to Republicans. They held a joint press conference with Indiana Democrats, who are fighting a similar plan.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton had asked a judge in Illinois to enforce civil arrest warrants for the Texas lawmakers and compel them to return to Austin. The judge denied that request.
Last week, Vice President JD Vance met with Indiana’s Republican governor to discuss redistricting there.
