
Texas is among the worst states to move to, according to Consumer Affairs, which cited factors like affordability, economy, education and health, quality of life, and safety.
The state received low scores across these categories, with particularly poor ratings in education, health, and affordability. This is somewhat ironic given that many newcomers from California or New York have reported that their money stretches further in Texas.
Overall, Texas was ranked just above California, which was at the bottom of the list. New Mexico also scored poorly and was near the bottom. In contrast, the top states included Utah, New Hampshire, Idaho, Minnesota, and Massachusetts.
