The Texas Lottery Commission is hoping to clean up its tainted image after the validity of two recent Lotto Texas Jackpot winning tickets were questioned by the Governor and Lt. Governor.
The future of the Texas Lottery Commission is very much in question after the State Senate grilled commissioners about how a European Syndicate was able to buy 26 million tickets in 72 hours to win a $95 million jackpot.
"We got an agency that's in disarray and has broken the public's trust," says Commissioner Montague. Others suggested this was a case of money laundering and the Texas Rangers should be called in to investigate.
The Lottery Commission is meeting Tuesday to discuss action to be taken after last month’s questionable $83 million jackpot-winning ticket. Lt. Governor Dan Patrick says, "It's time we take a deep look at these retail services and these couriers units, especially when they're owned by the same company."
The Commission has since banned couriers, but the two jackpot-winning tickets were bought by them.
