The Texas Senate has approved a two-year, $336 billion state budget, moving the proposal to the House for consideration.
The budget plan includes $153 billion in general revenue, primarily funded by taxpayers. State Sen. Brandon Creighton (R-Conroe) emphasized that education remains a top priority in the spending package.
If the Texas House makes any changes to the proposal, lawmakers from both chambers will need to negotiate a final version before the legislative session ends.
