The Texas Supreme Court will hear a challenge to the state's new abortion law on Tuesday -- specifically what the phrase "life-threatening condition" means.

Twenty women have sued because they say their lives were put in danger because doctors did not want to risk their careers or jail time for performing an abortion that might not fit the letter of the law.

During a prior hearing, Ashley Brandt of Dallas told an Austin judge that she traveled to Colorado for an abortion because she could not find a doctor in Texas to perform an abortion. Brandt had a twin fetus, which did not have a brain or skull.

An immediate ruling from the Texas Supreme Court is not expected.
