As winter quickly fades away into spring, we know moms all over the Lone Star State are gathering their children’s nicest clothes in preparation for a roadside bluebonnet photo shoot.

Let’s just say there will be PLENTY of opportunities to get those pictures this year.

Andrea DeLong-Amaya, the horticulture director for the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at the University of Texas at Austin, told the Dallas Morning News, “On a scale from one to 10, this year looks like it could be an eight, for bluebonnets in particular, if not even better.”

According to Delong-Amaya, last summer’s drought followed by the rains we’ve had recently make ideal conditions for a bluebonnet boom.

Scott Simons, a spokesman for the Wildflower Center says that bluebonnets have already sprouted in Austin.  Typically, North Texas is two weeks behind Austin so we should expect to start seeing bluebonnets by early or mid-March!

Get those outfits ready, moms!
