Dangerous triple-digit temperatures bring concern for heat strokes

We are facing at least a week of very dangerous heat -- triple-digit highs and a Heat Advisory in effect through at least tonight. This kind of heat must not be taken lightly as it puts you at risk of heat stroke.

Fort Worth cardiologist Fahmi Farah tells NBC-5's Allana Quillen those neurological symptoms of the heat can be confusion or even passing out. The solution, of course, is preventing heat stroke in the first place.

Stay out of the heat, stay in the air conditioning. If you must be outside for any length of time, tank up on water and take frequent breaks in the shade or an air-conditioned vehicle.

And on the subject of water, that's by far your best option. Stay away from alcohol because it can make it even harder for your body to regulate its temperature.
