The Texas attorney general is urging the secretary of state to request citizen data from the U.S government that would allow Texas to check the citizenship status of registered voters.

Ken Paxton sent a letter to Secretary of State Jane Nelson today, saying the request was part of an effort to check the citizenship status of voters the state cannot verify. In the letter, Paxton blamed the Biden Adminstration's border policies.

Texas removed hundreds of thousands people from its voter rolls this summer, so officials urge residents to confirm they're registered. The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 7th.
