Vince Offer, the infomercial pitchman known for the ShamWow and Slap Chop ads, is running in the Republican primary for Texas’ 31st Congressional District, filing his candidacy ahead of next year’s election in the Central Texas seat held by longtime Rep. John R. Carter.

Offer announced his campaign this week, positioning himself as a challenger to the incumbent in a district that includes Fort Cavazos, Killeen, Temple, Round Rock and Georgetown.

Offer, whose real name is Vince Shlomi, rose to national attention in the late 2000s with high-energy product commercials that became staples of late-night television and internet culture.

His campaign materials highlight an “anti-woke” platform and frame his run as an outsider bid opposed to what he calls cultural overreach. Carter, first elected in 2002, has not publicly responded to the filing. The primary is scheduled for March 2026.
