A first in Texas and for the city of Waco; Governor Abbott is congratulating them on becoming the first designated Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community.

Waco is home to long-established institutions like Baylor University, the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum, and the Dr Pepper Museum. It also has growing attractions like the Chip and Joanna Gaines empire.

Waco city leaders and state reps are thrilled by the designation, saying welcoming visitors has always been and will always be the city's enduring ethos. The Tourism Friendly designation is a new initiative by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development to help further support travel and tourism in Texas.
