Waymo, a self-driving taxi company, is expanding its operations in Texas, launching its autonomous vehicles in the state's capital as part of a broader rollout.
The company is working to address safety concerns as it deploys driverless cars in Austin. Aiden Sullivan, a representative for Waymo, emphasized that the vehicles are equipped with technology that allows them to anticipate and avoid potential hazards faster than human drivers.
The company’s growth has not been without scrutiny. Earlier this year, federal regulators launched an investigation into several incidents involving Waymo's vehicles, including crashes and reports of traffic law violations.
Waymo has not commented publicly on the investigation but continues to promote its technology as a safer alternative to traditional vehicles. The company remains focused on proving the safety of its autonomous systems as it moves forward with its Austin expansion.
