New research suggests social media use at a young age may be leading to the formation of unhealthy habits in many children in the U.S.
The study conducted at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) looked at children nine and ten years old.
Researchers found that more exposure to social media or watching television was often associated with the development of binge eating disorders within one year.
UCSF assistant professor of pediatrics said, "Kids who spend more time on social media may be exposed to influencers who have unattainable body ideals and sort of these perfect physiques," potentially leading to body issues and other problems at a young age.
KRLD's Chris Sommer discussed the report with healthy living expert Keri Ford.
