UPDATE 11:54 A.M. - Another possible monster hail event after 6:00 p.m.

There is a level 1 and 2 risk for severe storms late this afternoon and especially into this evening, just north of downtown Dallas and downtown Fort Worth. The greatest chance for storms will be along and north of highway 380. Large hail, damaging wind, and isolated tornadoes are the threats.

In the morning, we experienced very mild temperatures for this time of the year. Low clouds are invading from the south and temperatures are hovering near 70゚. We also have a south wind gusting the 20 mph.

A cold front is moving through the Texas Panhandle. Both of these surface features are heading in our direction late this afternoon into the evening hours. These features will bump into a lot of surface moisture and temperatures near 90゚. The one thing in our favor will be a strong cap that will be in place. This cap will start to break down around dinner time, allowing strong to severe thunderstorms to develop. Everything should move off to the East by midnight.

By tomorrow morning, cooler air will be rushing in as we drop into the 50s. Afternoon highs will be a good 20゚ cooler with readings in the low 70s.

The nice weather pattern will continue through the week, however, I will keep a eye on a cluster of thunderstorms that will develop in NW Oklahoma  Wed. night. Some of these storms may move into north TX on Thursday morning, but nothing severe is expected.

Your weekend forecast is still up in the air. Some data suggests showers and storms will return to the area, some severe. Other data keeps us dry. Stay tuned.
