The average temperature in North Texas this summer through Monday was 88.5 degrees, making 2023 the fourth-hottest summer of all-time, according to the National Weather Service.

Last year we got a ton of rain from late August into September, cooling the temperatures down. This year, the relentless heat looks to continue at least through the end of the month and possibly into the first part of September.

That would easily put us in the top three hottest summers. The hottest was in 2011 with an average temperature of 90.2 degrees, followed by an average of 89.4 in 1980 and 88.9 last year. If this pattern keeps up, we could easily give 2011 and 1980 a run for the money.
