A beautiful Thursday ahead; Scattered storms this weekend

A beautiful Thursday ahead; Scattered storms this weekend

Grab your jacket on the way out this morning. Temperatures have fallen into the upper 40s and low 50s — heck yeah. Today will be super nice, with afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Good morning, my friends, and happy almost Friday. Temperatures are very cool for this time of year. I wish it would last forever, but of course you know it won’t. As mentioned above, we’ll reach the mid 70s this afternoon as surface high pressure settles overhead.

That center of high pressure slides east tonight, and our warming trend begins tomorrow. Overnight lows will dip to around 60 degrees.

Friday will feature plenty of sunshine, with highs climbing into the low 80s. Late Friday night into early Saturday morning, a cold front will try to sag into the area and may send a weakening complex of showers and storms toward North Texas by daybreak Saturday. Right now, most of the data suggests that activity will weaken before it reaches us. I’ll keep an eye on it, but I’m not overly concerned at this point.

Saturday will start mostly cloudy, but sunshine should break out by late morning and especially during the afternoon. That will help temperatures warm into the mid to upper 80s. South winds will increase to 10 to 20 mph, bringing Gulf moisture back into the region. Most of the day looks dry, and that dry weather should continue into the first half of Mother’s Day.

Sunday morning lows will settle into the mid 60s. Sunday afternoon’s forecast is a bit tricky. It will depend on how quickly the next cold front moves into the area. If the front arrives during peak heating, we could see some strong to severe storms during the second half of Mother’s Day. If it arrives earlier, the better severe threat would likely shift south of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Either way, I’ll be watching it closely because I know it’s a special day for many of us. Highs Sunday afternoon should climb into the upper 80s ahead of the front.

We’ll start next week sunny and beautiful. Monday looks fantastic, with highs in the mid 70s. Tuesday and Wednesday will be just as nice, but temperatures will climb quickly. Expect mid 80s Tuesday, and we may approach 90 degrees by Wednesday with plenty of sunshine.

That’s all I have for this wonderful Thursday morning. I hope all of y’all have an awesome day — and remember to enjoy the weather when you can. It’s the only weather you’ve got.
