A brief break from the heat Friday and Saturday, but intense heat returns next week

Grass Fire
National Weather Service - Fort Worth

A brief break from the heat Friday and Saturday, but the intense heat quickly returns next week. Also, the grass fire danger will continue to be high through next week, especially west of Fort Worth.

Enjoy today and tomorrow. More heat advisories expected across North Texas. Afternoon highs will reach 101° Friday, 102° Saturday with low relative humidity. This will mark day 20 and day 21 for triple digits across North Texas. 20 days is average for the year.

The center of the ridge of high pressure has drifted north of Texas, for now. It's currently baking the central plains states, midwest, and the northeastern parts of the United States. Unfortunately, it's forecast to build back across North Texas next week.

Afternoon highs next week will be sneaking close to 107° at DFW Airport. I wouldn't be surprised to see Excessive Heat Warnings across much of the area. Humidity levels will remain low during the afternoon hours, but it will still be very hot for this time of the year.

Day 7: We may have a weak cold front settle into the area by late next week into the weekend. This may bring some scattered showers and storms to the area, but temperatures won't cool off that much. Triple digits are still anticipated.
