Thanks to a major snowstorm bearing down on Colorado, ski fans will have more time to squeeze in one last trip to the slopes before the end of the season.
According to forecasters, parts of Colorado could see up to three feet of additional snow late this week and into the weekend. The expected dumping of powder is prompting some ski resorts to extend their seasons.
Vail Resorts Inc. announced skiing will continue at its Beaver Creek Resort until Apr. 11, and through Apr. 18 at Vail Mountain Resort.
Company spokeswoman Lindsay Hogan told Bloomberg the extension is a way to thank skiers for their ongoing support.
Meanwhile, among other major Colorado ski resorts, Crested Butte Mountain Resort is scheduled to close Apr. 4, while Breckenridge Ski Resort has a projected closing date of May 31.
