We are approaching the final days of July and rapidly nearing the hottest and driest month of the year. August is imminent.
Happy Tuesday. We anticipate a rain-free period this morning through late Thursday, as high pressure in the upper levels continues to dominate our weather. Heat advisories have been issued once again today, and we expect these advisories to be extended through Thursday evening. Afternoon highs throughout this period will approach 100 degrees. We may even exceed 100 degrees at DFW by Wednesday, and especially Thursday. Temperatures will be slightly hotter to the west. Additionally, please note that the heat index value will be five to seven degrees higher than the actual temperature. It is essential to stay hydrated.
A change in the weather pattern is anticipated late Thursday evening, as showers and storms develop along a cold front in our northwest region. The front is expected to move south of the area this weekend. Although the majority of the rain may remain northwest of DFW on Thursday night, it is likely to reform across North Texas on Friday and Saturday. However, it is still too early to predict the exact amount and location of rainfall. Nevertheless, the prospect of rain is a welcome addition to the forecast, especially during a period when it is not typically expected. Afternoon highs will reach the mid-90s on Friday.
The likelihood of showers and thunderstorms over the weekend will depend on the front's position. Currently, it appears that the majority of the rain will be just south of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Afternoon highs will only reach the low to mid-90s due to cloud cover and precipitation in the area. We anticipate additional chances for showers and storms early Monday morning, originating from Oklahoma, and again by late afternoon and evening. Afternoon highs will reach the low to mid-90s.
By mid-week, the upper-level ridge of high pressure will rebuild across the area, leading to a prolonged period of hot and dry weather. This is characteristic of typical August weather patterns.
Have a great day today and enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got!
