As expected, a bunch of noise and more bark than bite. Rain totals ranged from 1/2" to 2" across North Texas overnight. The heaviest rain fell along and east of a McKinney to Dallas to Waxahachie line.
The severe weather threat is now pressing into east Texas at this hour. There's still a threat for a warning or two in these areas. Also, please be careful driving this morning, because there's still a lot of standing water in areas that have seen the heaviest rain, also in construction areas. Allow extra time getting into work or school, especially in the rural areas east and SE of Dallas.
I'm tracking a cold front that's moving towards Wichita Falls right now. Behind the front, wind gusts to 45mph can be expected as it plows through north Texas by late morning. These stronger wind gusts will only last an hour or 2 and then level off 30 to 35 mph throughout the rest of today. Temperatures will go from the sixties down into the fifties by the time you had home from work today. You may also want to grab a jacket out the door this morning, because it will feel a lot colder than the actual temperature this afternoon into the Wednesday evening.
The rain is now moving out and we have a string of nice days ahead. Thursday morning will start off rather cool as well as Friday morning, with temperatures dipping into the forties. Plant protecting weather? Sure, why not, just to be safe.
Thursday will be the coolest day with highs only in the upper sixties. We'll warm into the mid seventies for Friday and Saturday, pushing the low eighties by Sunday!
A peek at next week: there's a decent shot of scattered strong to severe thunderstorms by late Monday into early Tuesday morning. I've still got several days to analyze data, but I wanted to put that in the back of your mind.
