Next wave of rain forms this afternoon, some severe; we may get a break this weekend

Some areas measured 2" to 3" of rain overnight, while others did not see a drop. You may have also heard the strong gusty winds after midnight roll through North Texas. I had a wind gust of 46 mph here at the weather nest. 43 mph at DFW. These were outflow winds from the storms rolling in from the north.

Things have quieted down this morning with the bulk of the rain now southeast of DFW. A cold front seems to have drifted South of I 20 and it's much cooler behind the front... temperatures are in the sixties!

The bulk of the shower and thunderstorm activity this afternoon and evening will be South of I 20. Some storms may contain some hail the size of quarters and strong gusty winds. The bulk of the Metroplex will only see a few scattered showers later today. At least that's how it looks now.

Most of our Memorial Day weekend looks pretty nice until the 2nd half of Monday. Afternoon highs will kiss the 80゚ mark, that's it! Average high is in the upper 80s now.

As satated above, shower and thunderstorm chances increase the 2nd half of Monday and will continue off and on through at least Thursday. These storms will be scattered in nature, so it won't be a complete washout. Tuesday looks like the day for the heaviest rain. Temperatures will remain in the seventies in the rain and jump up into the eighties if you see some sunshine.
