Showers are greeting us early this morning, mainly along and north of 635 and North Loop 820. These are racing north at 35 mph. Temperatures are in the low to mid seventies. More scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop later today with high temperatures in the upper 80s.
We dry out a little bit tomorrow and most of Thursday, with high temperatures back in the lower 90s. Heat index values will reach around 102゚ with a ton of humidity.
Our next weather change arrives late Thursday and Friday as a cold front slowly slides through the area from the north. A weakening area storms will cross the Red River Valley after midnight and then reform somewhere across north Texas into Friday. I cannot rule out a few these becoming severe with wind and small hail being the main threats.
Cooler temperatures will follow the cold front as we dry out from north to south by Saturday morning. Afternoon highs on Friday may not get out of the low eighties. Saturday we slowly clear out with highs in the mid 80s, upper 80s for the 4th of July.
Scattered showers and storms return to the forecast by early next week.
It's still way too early to tell if the firework shows will be OK on the 4th of July, but right now, things look fairly dry!
