A tumultuous weekend beset the nation, with the weather posing a formidable threat in the form of deadly tornadoes, large hail, destructive winds, dust storms, and widespread grass fires. As the country transitions into a more favorable weather pattern this week, it appears that Mother Nature is exacting her retribution. Cleanup and survey efforts will persist.
Monday began with a cloudless sky and temperatures ranging from the upper 40s to low 50s across North Texas. Monday promises an abundance of sunshine, with highs approaching 80 degrees. However, a very high grass fire danger prevails west of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, extending into West Texas, where Red Flag Warnings have been issued. A High Wind Watch is in effect for the Texas Panhandle, as potentially damaging winds will arrive Tuesday.
Tuesday morning will commence with temperatures in the mid-50s, culminating in highs in the low to mid-80s, accompanied by passing high clouds. Red Flag Warnings will persist west of DFW.
The next weather system will be a dry cold front, shifting winds from the southwest to the northwest, maintaining extremely dry air and elevated fire danger across much of the state. Afternoon highs on Wednesday will be cool, with readings in the mid-60s, complemented by ample sunshine.
The wind will briefly subside on Thursday, yielding plenty of sunshine and highs approaching 70 degrees. A south wind will return with vigor on Friday, particularly through the weekend. Highs on Friday are expected to reach the upper 70s, with south winds gusting up to 35 mph.
The weekend is anticipated to be dry once more, with increasing humidity. Afternoon highs will approach 80 degrees on both days. The next weather system will arrive late Sunday, albeit without precipitation.
