An upper level area of high pressure will continue to dominate the regional weather pattern through Saturday. Following this, three cold fronts are expected to impact the area between late Saturday night and the end of next week, raising questions about potential rainfall.
Currently, North Texas is experiencing a beautifully cool morning with clear skies. Temperatures range from the mid-50s to mid-60s, accompanied by a light east wind. Plenty of sunshine is anticipated throughout the day, with afternoon highs reaching the mid to upper 80s, approximately 10 degrees above average for this time of year. This trend is expected to persist through Saturday.
Friday morning will see temperatures in the 60s, with afternoon highs warming up to the upper 80s. No precipitation is forecasted.
Saturday's weather will be notable, as the record high temperature at DFW Airport is 93 degrees. A dry line will approach, causing winds to shift southwesterly and temperatures to rise to approximately 92 degrees, potentially tying the record.
The first in a series of cold fronts will arrive late Saturday or early Sunday morning. As of now, shower and thunderstorm activity is expected to form south and east of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. However, there is a possibility that storms may develop farther north of I-20 before midnight Saturday. While severe weather is not a major concern, some strong storms may produce gusty winds, small hail, and brief heavy rain.
Sunday morning will bring a north wind and cool temperatures, ranging from the upper 50s to below 60s. The day will be sunny and beautiful, with afternoon highs reaching approximately 80 degrees, making it an ideal day for outdoor activities.
Next week's temperature trend will be characterized by fluctuations. A quick warm-up is expected on Monday, followed by the second front on Tuesday, which will bring afternoon highs near 80 degrees without precipitation. Temperatures will rebound to the mid-80s on Wednesday and near 80 degrees on Thursday, again without rain.
The return of La Nina to the lower 48 states will influence the type of weather we can expect over the next 6 months. This feature often brings below-average rainfall and above-average temperatures. The brutal cold experienced in February 2021 occurred during a La Nina year, but it is uncertain whether this winter will follow a similar pattern.
Thanks for playing, I hope you have a great day and enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got.
