
The National Weather Service confirms a total of five tornadoes took place across North Texas, Tuesday morning, according to preliminary reports.
NWS says these have been confirmed based on video and eye witness as of 4 p.m. Tuesday bu there could have potentially been up to 12 tornadoes that occurred.
Storm surveys have started to take place with many of them scheduled to be completed Wednesday.
There were several reports of a tornado in Grapevine along State Highway 114 near State Highway 26.
The National Weather Service said there was a radar-confirmed tornado between Samson Park and River Oaks just after 8 a.m.
There was also a confirmed tornado in the Wise County city of Decatur just after 7 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. The Decatur Fire Department reported multiple homes were damaged.
In the Parker County city of Millsap, law enforcement reported at least one tractor-trailer blown over on Interstate 20.
A Tornado Watch was in effect for most of North Texas until 11 a.m. A Watch indicates that conditions are favorable for severe weather, including tornadoes, damaging wind gusts and hail. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has also been issued for southwest Tarrant County and most of Dallas County until 10 a.m.
The threat will continue into East Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi later Tuesday, while temperatures in North Texas will quickly drop as the weekend approaches.
