Detectives determined that Rainey was one of two armed suspects who entered the bar to assault a patron, who was also armed. Shots were fired between the parties, and the second suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, according to police.
The patron was struck in the lower body and was taken to a local hospital. Another uninvolved victim suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene.
Police said they were trying to determine a motive for the shooting, and detectives encouraged witnesses to come forward.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting was urged to contact LBPD Homicide detectives Ethan Sher or Chasen Contreras at 562-570-7244. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
