15-year-old girl reported missing from Lynwood

Authorities Wednesday sought the public's help to find a 15-year-old girl who went missing from Lynwood more than a week ago.

Brightlynn Mendoza was last seen on Jan. 16  at about 3:30 a.m. near Cookacre Avenue and McMillan Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The girl is Hispanic, 5 feet tall, weighs 140 pounds and has black, shoulder-length hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a black/brown jacket and black sweatpants with white stripes.

"Her family is concerned with her well-being and is asking for the public's help," a sheriff's department statement said.

Anyone with information about the case was urged to contact the Sheriff's Century Station at 323-568-4800, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS. Tipsters may also use the website http://lacrimestoppers.org.
