Arnold Schwarzenegger wants to pump you up!
The 73-year-old former bodybuilder has given his fans an inside look at the chest and back workout routine he does to stay fit and “as lean as possible.”
Arnold shared his fitness plan in his latest wellness newsletter, reported Men’s Health.
The “Terminator” star says he workouts 6 days a week and targets specific body parts during each visit. He does chest and back one day, followed by biceps, triceps and shoulders the next, and an entire day focusing on legs. Heard that, fellas!
To get his pecs and lats on point, Arnold’s chest and back regimen consists of doing five sets of the following:
• Machine bench press x 20 reps
• Lat pull down x 20
• Machine chest flys x 20
• Dumbbell rows x 20
• Incline bench press x 20
• Dumbbell pullover x 20
No longer looking to pack on major muscle, the former Californai governor now has different fitness goals.
"I am not training to win Mr. Olympia, I am training to stay as lean as possible, so I go through those exercises as a circuit with almost no rest," he wrote in the newsletter, per Men’s Health.
He also stressed that his routine isn’t necessary for everyone.
“Every goal and every body is different, and the key thing really is to find out what gets you excited to train,” Arnold added.
Someone who definitely takes his fitness advice is Schwarzenegger’s son Joseph Baena.
The 23-year-old appears to be following in his dad’s “Pumping Iron” footsteps as he often shares photos of his shirtless jacked physique in and out of the gym.
Last month, the two enjoyed some father-son bonding while working out at the gym together.
“This selfie was taken moments before my dad suggested I do “forced reps” for the rest of the workout,” Baena wrote. “You have to go all out and absolutely NO cheating when you train with him, so you know I’m going to be hurting tomorrow.”
