Hundreds of artists will showcase their talents at the 31st Annual Pasadena Chalk Festival on Saturday, June 22, and Sunday, June 23.

The festival will be held at the Plaza at the Pasadena Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Tom Coston, who is with the nonprofit "Light Bringer Project" which organizes the event, told KNX News’ Margaret Carrero he’s always in awe of the art he sees at the festival.

“When I watch them draw on cement like these really spectacular murals that are 10 ft by 10 ft and they are very intricate, full of color and texture…it's magic to me, somebody who can't do it,” he said. “And I'm so respectful of their talents and energies.”

There will be 200 different murals for people to look at, Coston added.

“It's really become a love mark for everybody who comes,” he said. “We get thousands of people coming out. All ages love it so there's nobody that's excluded. We call it a museum without walls.”

The festival is free, but Costin said the proceeds from the silent auction and other sales like concessions are donated to their organization's arts education programs for underserved public school kids in Pasadena and L.A. County.
