A body was found in the rubble of the two-story commercial building that burned down on Tuesday in North Hills. Cadaver dogs later alerted to the possibility of human remains inside.
Los Angeles fire officials used heavy equipment to clear away debris at the building on Parthenia St. to get inside and investigate further. The L.A. Fire Department confirmed a body was found, but didn’t reveal any other information.
The fire also caused damage to an adjacent apartment complex, which displaced roughly 40 people who may not be able to return until at least Friday.

“It's a slow process,” LAFD Captain Erik Scott told KNX News’ Karen Adams. “We had to give the gas company access to those meters, then they need to charge them, see if the dial turns, test each one for pressure. I expect us to at least at a minimum be on scene through Friday.”
There have been other fires at the same commercial building. The cause of this one is still under investigation.
