For the first time in 25 years, there are no drought conditions in California.

“This week's map is actually showing no color of any dryness or drought depiction in the state of California, and it's been all the way back since December of 2000 since we've last seen that,” climatologist Brian Fuchs with the Drought Mitigation Center told KNX News’ Karen Adams.

Fuchs added that a drought-free California is certainly impressive, especially because we're in a La Niña weather pattern, which typically doesn't bring a lot of rain.

“This one has been behaving a little uniquely in that, you know, some of the analogs that we have gathered from past La Niña events across the country,” he said. “We're not necessarily seeing those same expectations associated with La Niña.”

So how long will it last? Fuchs said we can expect California to remain drought-free through March.
