In an effort to provide some badly needed affordable housing for LA, the city is now offering pre-approved designs for granny flats.
There are 20 different options, ranging from studios to two-story layouts.
And more choices may be coming soon.

The goal is to make the permitting process faster and cheaper and get more homeowners to build accessory dwelling units.
The city says a pre-approved design could cut the plan check review process to as little as one day.
Gary Painter, director of USC's Price Center for Social Innovation, says the program could also make it easier for homeowners to get financing.
"The largest piece of uncertainty has been 'how long is it going to take to be able to get the ADU up?' and then, therefore, occupied if a bank or another financial institution actually recognizes it, it is going to be easier to build and therefore, cheaper to build for the homeowner, they are more likely to finance the ADU as well," he says.
Price says there's been an ADU construction boom since the state made them easier to build and the standard plan program could accelerate that in LA.
