Couple pistol-whipped, robbed outside Calabasas restaurant

PASADENA, Calif. (KNX) — Three people, including a 16-year-old boy, in connection with a shooting that killed one and injured another in October.

Cecilio Hernandez, 24, of Pasadena faces one count of murder involving the fatal shooting of Jamal Patterson. The shooting took place on Oct. 25 in the 1000 block of Summit Avenue. Hernandez also faces one count each of attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Patterson, also 24, died while being treated for his injuries at a local hospital three days later. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the head, according to the county coroner’s office.

Pasadena police said a 16-year-old local had also been charged as an unidentified juvenile with one count each of murder and attempted murder.

A third individual, Angel Martinez, 40, of Phelan, was charged with six counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and one count of unlawful possession of ammunition.

The three were arrested last week,culminating an extensive investigation that involved multiple search warrant executions at residences across L.A. and San Bernardino counties. Police recovered three rifles, five handguns, body armor, and ammunition.

Hernandez will return to Pasadena court on Jan. 10 for arraignment.
