LONG BEACH (CNS) - An ex-con was charged today with a series of break- ins at restaurants in Long Beach.

Corey James Swayney, 20, of Long Beach, pleaded not guilty to eight felony counts of second-degree commercial burglary.

According to the criminal complaint, Swayney was previously convicted of burglary last September and November.

The restaurants that were targeted between June 12 and June 21 were La Taqueria Brand, Waffle Love, The Breakfast Bar, Chipotle, Chen's Chinese Restaurant, Panchos Vegan Tacos, Park Pantry and The Ordinaire.

Detectives were able to determine through video surveillance footage that one suspect was involved in the series of burglaries, according to Long Beach police. Investigators said tach restaurant was broken into through its front door and money and/or electronics were stolen.

Swayney was arrested Wednesday and has remained behind bars since then, jail records show.
