NORWALK (CNS) - A food delivery driver was shot and wounded Tuesday night, while delivering food in her car in La Mirada. Investigators said this was the second shooting of the day involving what could be the same suspects.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange and treated for gunshot wounds, said Sgt. Rodney Gutierrez of the Los Angeles County Sheriffs' Department's Norwalk Station.

She told deputies she was on the job Tuesday when, around 11:40 p.m., she noticed a silver sedan had been following her for several blocks. The situation escalated during a food delivery in the 13000 block of El Moro Avenue, near Foster Road.

That's where she said multiple suspects fired at her several times, hitting her in the abdomen, Gutierrez said. He added that she was able to drive to Buena Park in Orange County and call deputies for help.

She told them that she last saw the suspects driving away westbound on Foster Road.

Gutierrez said the shooting was the second involving a silver sedan that day. The first occurred around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday near Telegraph and Colima Roads in South Whittier — just two miles away from where the food delivery driver was shot.

The Whittier shooting followed the same pattern, Gutierrez said, with the suspects in their car following the victim's vehicle for several blocks. In this case though, the suspects reportedly rammed into the victim's car from the back, shattering the rear window and shooting at the victim.

"We think it might have been the same people," Gutierrez said. "Possibly a local gang."

No one was hurt in the 6:15 p.m. shooting and investigators said they have no descriptions of the suspects in either case.

Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to call the Norwalk Station at 562-863-8711. Anonymous tips can be called in to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
