A man suffered a minor smoke inhalation injury on Monday when he tried to put out a fire in a garage housing an electric vehicle.
The fire was reported about 11:45 a.m. in a detached garage in the 19000 block of West Schoenborn Street in Northridge, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Crews encountered heavy smoke and fire upon arrival, said LAFD spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton.
Thirty-eight firefighters responded and put the blaze out in 19 minutes, but a 60-year-old man who lives at the residence inhaled some smoke while trying to control the fire, Middleton said.
He was assessed at the scene for a minor injury.
An LAFD hazmat crew was summoned to deal with the burned electric vehicle.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
