Beginning Monday night, crews will prepare to repave some lanes on the 405 Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass this weekend.

The intermittent closures will happen from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. up to two lanes of northbound I-405 between Wilshire Boulevard and Mulholland Drive/Skirball Center Drive, and up to two lanes of southbound I-405 between Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive and Wilshire Boulevard.

Lauren Walike, a spokesperson for Caltrans, told KNX News’ Jon Baird that crews will be working overnight through Thursday to get ready for the work that will take place this weekend.

“The weekend work is primarily paving work where they're actually repaving sections of lanes,” she explained. “Having these extended weekend lane reductions is a lot more efficient because they can have that big paving equipment out there throughout the weekend. They don't have to move it in and out, and that allows them to actually repay those big sections, whereas overnight, these are much shorter hours during the week.”
