"It’s unbelievable to us that our album 'Futures' is almost 20 years old! Making 'Futures' was one of the most difficult yet rewarding accomplishments in our time as a band. We are honored that many you have found something in those songs that you’ve connected with over the years," Jimmy Eat World said in their official announcement on social media.
"As a way to show our appreciation," they add, "we want to play this album front to back for our hometown fans at The Van Buren in Phoenix, AZ on October 17. The Van Buren is a special venue and we are chomping at the bit to play there for the first time ever. We hope to see you there!"
Tickets for the one-night-only show will be available to the general public on Friday, August 16 at 10AM local time following the band's fan club pre-sale beginning on Wednesday, August 14.
When discussing the recording process for Futures, (which arrived three years after their Platinum breakthrough Bleed American) the band explains it was their “darkest album" and "the hardest for us to make," adding how it was "the first record we made where we didn’t feel like we were making it anonymously." Despite Futures' challenges the band says, “We pushed through and ended up with an album we are super proud of to this day. Being able to reimagine it as a live recording so many years later for the Phoenix Sessions was an amazing experience, and we hope you enjoy reliving it again as much as we did.”
Also, to commemorate and close out their three-chapter series which began with Clarity: Phoenix Sessions (Chapter III), the band will offer up Futures: Phoenix Sessions (Chapter V) and Surviving: Phoenix Sessions (Chapter X) on vinyl for the first time as well.
Both limited-edition releases, available now for preorder, were recorded live as part of their 2021 Phoenix Sessions global streaming series filmed at the Icehouse in Phoenix, AZ. Take a look at further details below.
The Futures: Phoenix Sessions 2-LP set will be on hand-poured blizzard-colored vinyl, and icomes with exclusive photos by Steve Thrasher, notes from the band, and an exclusive 20th anniversary etching on side D.
