“KPop Demon Hunters” has become the most-watched original movie in Netflix history with 325 million views. But doctors say a new TikTok trend influenced by the movie is putting kids in danger.

The K-pop girl group is seen slurping piping hot Ramen noodles, which is their magical elixir. Now, kids on TikTok are trying to slurp down scalding hot noodles just like the characters, and doctors are reporting an increase in burns.

UC Irvine burn expert Dr. Syed Saquib told KNX News’ Emily Valdez that while he has not treated anyone imitating the movie, he has treated his share of serious burns from hot noodles or soup.

“It takes about 140 degrees and three seconds of exposure to 140 degrees of low temperature of liquid to get a second-degree burn as an adult, and the hot ramen noodle soup is boiling at 212 degrees,” he said.

These burns, he said, can scar. Dr. Saquib said that in order to treat a burn, run it under cool water for at least 20 minutes because a second-degree burn can turn into a third-degree burn.
