An armed suspect was shot and killed by Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies in Paramount after a standoff and an investigation of the shooting is underway Friday.

Deputies responded at 9:59 p.m. Thursday to the 8000 block of Alhambra Avenue and Paramount Boulevard where they encountered the suspect with a baby nearby on the porch of the residence where he lived and opened fire on him, homicide Lt. Daniel Vizcarra said.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and took the suspect to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Fox 11 reported.
NBC 4 reported the girlfriend of the suspect called deputies prior to the shooting, telling them that he was armed, NBC 4 reports. It was not immediately known what prompted the shooting.
No deputies were injured.
